About David's Stump Grinding

David's Stump Grinding is a small, owner-operated company in Auburn, not a franchise with a call center in between. The number on this page is the number on the truck.

Most of our work is stumps, and most of it is within twenty minutes of the shop on Sierra View Circle. We cover the rest of Placer County regularly: south to the Roseville and Granite Bay tract yards, east on I-80 to Colfax, and out the divide to Foresthill.

How a job works

We walk the yard first. You mark anything buried. Then we grind.

1. We walk the yard first

Before the machine runs, we look at the stump, the gate, the slope, and what's sitting next to it. That means irrigation boxes, well lids, propane tanks, low wires, and any retaining wall that's already leaning.

2. You mark what we can't see

Drip lines and buried wire aren't visible. If you know where they run, flag them. If you don't know, tell us and we'll work more carefully instead of guessing.

3. We grind 6 to 12 inches down

We take the stump 6 to 12 inches below grade. That's deep enough to fill the hole, put down seed, or plant something new without hitting solid wood.

4. We rake the hole out

We rake the hole out so you can see what you've got before we leave, and we either pile the chips or leave them in place. Your call.

What you get

A look at the yard before the machine starts. A grind well below grade instead of a cut at the surface. Chips handled the way you asked. And the same phone number afterward if anything needs sorting out.
